The municipality of Guisa, in the province of Granma, is in mourning after the death of a baby due to a respiratory illness.
The death of the minor was confirmed by the journalist Alberto Arego, who indicated that his family was extremely affected by what happened.
“The increase in deaths and illnesses in Cuban children is greater every day. Today I heard the sad news of the death of a child from Guise. A baby who is just beginning to live ”, she reads in the publication, which she quoted from a user identified as Dariem Toledo.
This person would have demanded answers from the health authorities, since it seems difficult to believe that a disease has affected the lungs of a baby at such a speed.
“Doctors can’t explain what kind of disease this is that attacks the lungs so quickly, and they can’t explain how dengue fever and various types of SARS have increased this year.”
What happened sparked outrage among Cubans inside and outside the island, with some of them acknowledging that it is not the fault of the Antillean doctors, but rather the serious shortage of medicines and supplies that the island suffers.
“My respects to the Cuban doctors, above all. It’s not their fault they don’t have the proper medications. It is not their fault that in the medical powerhouse we do not even have gauze to operate, a thread to hold stitches or a pill for pain,” Toledo added in his complaint.
The Internet user’s complaint highlights the problem represented by the constant blackouts that are experienced on the Island, as well as the increase in mosquito outbreaks and the shortage of drugs on the streets. In his opinion, all these are factors that affect against the health of the people.
In the same way, Toledo emphasizes that the doctors are not to blame for the fact that the health system is not the priority of the Castro authorities, who prefer to focus on the tourism sector.
“It is not their fault that the system invests in hotels and TUR cars, and does not have the coj… to buy ambulances, even if they are Chinese and one per province. I don’t know how you get strength as doctors to look at a child about to die knowing that with conditions and medicine he could be saved? You are some brave, and others are carefree!” she wrote.
Among the comments, a person close to the affected family thanked the woman for the support she showed by reporting the incident.
“We thank you for your condolences. Here we are at the wake of a precious child, the son of my cousin, who is the granddaughter of Osiris Martínez. We are almost crazy, without consolation from this sad reality. There is no staff. We are devastated,” this person wrote.
According to information shared by the independent media Cuban newspapercases like this baby’s have been reported more frequently on the island, with territories such as Holguín, Granma and Santiago de Cuba experiencing an increase in the number of cases of cholera and digestive tract diseases.
An anonymous source maintains that the water that reaches the province of Holguín has a greenish appearance and has an unpleasant odor. This problem began almost at the same time that cholera cases began to rise, all while the drugs to treat this disease have disappeared from pharmacies.
