They denounce possible poisoning of cats and dogs in the Villa Miriam neighborhood

An inhabitant of the Villa Miriam neighborhood, who requested that his identity be reserved, denounced a possible attack with toxic substances on cats and dogs in the sector. In recent days, the lifeless bodies of various animals have been found outside their homes. According to the complainant, some cats and dogs have been found very weak, lying on the public highway, while others were already dead on vacant lots in the neighborhood.

The community suspects that it would be a poisoning with some type of toxic substance, an action that is reprehensible by the inhabitants of the area. So far, it is unknown who may be behind these events.

In response to the public complaint, THE PYLON contacted the municipal health secretary, Holmer Jiménez Ditta, to find out if they were already aware of the situation and what actions they would take as the entity in charge of providing protection to animals. The official stated that so far, the Ministry of Health has not received any complaint about what is happening with cats and dogs in the sector. “If they had been informed, the team of zootechnicians would have already traveled to the place to analyze and carry out the actions and controls of the case in place.”

The health official pointed out that this type of action has become constant in various neighborhoods of the city, where not only have animals been attacked with lethal substances, but also with bladed weapons and blunt objects. These acts have been prosecuted jointly with the environmental authorities, and the attackers have been prosecuted and made available to the Prosecutor’s Office for animal abuse.

In the city, different days of prevention and animal protection have been carried out. One of them took place on July 21 in the Garupal park, where it was sought, in addition to keeping pet vaccinations up to date, to publicize the appropriate ways to treat animals to prevent these unacceptable acts from continuing. to them. “We have carried out several campaigns where we socialize with the community about the correct treatment of their pets, we have also carried out activities in favor of animal welfare,” said Jiménez Ditta.

The Municipal Health Secretariat invited the community to provide information on possible acts of animal abuse that may occur in their communities. In this way, it will be possible to act in time and prevent these violent acts against animals from continuing to occur.
