They demand “Plan San Fabián” as compensation for La Punilla – La Discusión

In a meeting with Senator Sanhueza, they agreed to submit a systematized petition to the director of Concessions of the MOP on Monday. Demands point to connectivity, security, health, education and economic strengthening.

Frustrated by the null progress of the requests presented to the Government as part of the compensation for the Nueva La Punilla reservoir, the leaders of the San Fabián communities showed up yesterday, who participated in a meeting of the Cordillera Table, with the mayor Claudio Almuna and Senator Gustavo Sanhueza, in which they agreed to demand the execution of a “San Fabián Plan” that addresses the cross-cutting demands manifested in the territory.

Representatives of the Buenos Aires, El Caracol, La Mortandad, Las Guardias, Los Puquios, Roble Huacho, La Vega, Quebrada Oscura and Pichirrincón sectors, as well as the Association of Farmers, Rural Security and the Development Council of the commune, affirmed that one of the main concerns is the isolation in which the families of Quebrada Oscura and Pichirrincón will remain with the projected design for the new route that will skirt the reservoir, given that the continuity of the N-31 axis will be flooded with the mega irrigation work . They also claim that an alternative route for truck traffic should be planned in the urban area, so as not to affect the safety of families.

Mayor Almuna stated that “we have high expectations in relation to Monday, where we hope to be heard by the director of Concessions in Santiago and, in this way, continue advancing in the demands of our communities.”

For his part, the president of the Mesa Cordillera, Humberto Illanes, commented that “we have been coming out of a very pleasant meeting, with a good atmosphere and that should lead us not to repeat the bad experiences we had with the Astaldi company.” He added that “the idea is that after the meeting on Monday we can return with concrete facts that give our communities peace of mind and that this conflict can be resolved definitively.”

In the same way, Senator Sanhueza affirmed that “we established a work path that will be systematic and that will allow us to achieve the compensation that the community of San Fabián demands and deserves. There is consensus at the table that the reservoir is a necessary work for our region, but it also represents other externalities that must be addressed by the State in terms of health, connectivity, education, public safety and economic strengthening “

“We will insist with the MOP on the formulation of a San Fabián Plan, as an articulating and intersectoral instrument, both at the central and regional levels,” added the parliamentarian.
