Hundreds of people from the country and several foreigners, many dressed for the occasion, visited and enjoyed yesterday the UNAM 2024 Megaofrenda Day of the Dead University Festival, Mexico seen through the lens.

In its 27th version, this year the offerings remember those who They have left their mark on Mexican cinema
both actresses and actors, directors and writers, as well as producers and scriptwriters.
In an environment in which the colors orange, yellow and purple predominate, the faces of remembered and iconic actors from national cinema were seen everywhere: Pedro Infante, Sara García, Mario Moreno Cantinflas, María Félix, Dolores del Río, Jorge Negrete and others.
On the esplanade of the Universum Science Museum, 71 offerings made by students from various academic institutions, university departments, high school campuses, incorporated schools and some private schools were installed. Students who participated in its preparation and assembly explained each offering to the visitors and highlighted the importance of keep traditions alive
like the Day of the Dead.
In the exhibition of those actors and actresses who are no longer with us, and who made national cinema recognized on an international scale, visitors recalled the various eras of Mexican cinema, from the Golden Age to the files and the films of fighters like The Saint y Blue Demon. Ricardo Núñez, student at the National School of Social Work of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), explained to this medium that his school now paid tribute to three Mexican films: Macario, The Milusos y We the poor.
As future social workers, we focus on change in society from social, economic and gender perspectives. These three films precisely emphasize the division of social classes between rich and poor, and the gap that exists between those who come from the town and those who come from the city, among other factors. That is why we pay tribute to these tapes.
The material of the offerings is 100 percent recycled: newspaper, crepe, mache, cardboard and shoe boxes

Charlotte expressed her admiration for the colorful offerings, while one of the students explained the work titled The 41 faggots found at a dance on La Paz Street on November 20, 1901, topic about which a film was made.
The Faculty of Accounting and Administration paid tribute to the cinema of files, which had its peak between the 70s and 80s.
In front of an offering in which a neighborhood with a multitude of working class homes and in the center the cabaret could be seen. Waikikiamong a large amount of marigold petals, Alejandra Méndez, a student at the UNAM Faculty of Accounting and Administration, stated that they chose that topic because “everyone is going to go for the beauty, for the Golden Age of Mexican cinema, and for everything that is presumed; So, we thought about looking for another approach, something different, that also represented Mexico and what better than the cinema of files.
The fifth semester student added that “this filmography was a pioneer in touching on many taboo topics that had not been addressed in other genres, for example, women’s sexual desire. No film had portrayed him until the cinema of files”.
The UNAM 2024 Megaofrenda can be visited until tomorrow. Access is given at 11 a.m. and closes at 9 p.m. The Day of the Dead University Festival is free to enter.
