They create a WhatsApp account to maintain contact between admitted Covid patients and their families

There are many families that, divided by a contagion or a member admitted for being positive, lose contact. If in itself it is hard to go through this virus that has marked the past year, it is even more painful to go through it totally alone, with the only company of the nurses who treat you.

That is why the Hospital Parc Taulí de Savadell has created and launched a practical WhatsApp account with which to allow patients to be in contact with their families while they are admitted thanks to the Citizen Attention Unit of the center itself. This initiative has been baptized as “UAC crop” and is aimed at those relatives of admitted patients who have a limitation of visits. The account is operational every day of the week from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., according to the hospital itself in a statement.

It is hard to see how families momentarily stop and break when a member is admitted by Covid, therefore, the purpose of this new measure is to “respond to the communication and accessibility difficulties that may occur in exceptional circumstances “that are lived throughout this pandemic that the world is going through. This service is not a substitute for telephone calls or face-to-face visits, it is only an initiative that seeks to add contact, not subtract methods for it.

The operation and start-up of the initiative is simple, families receive an SMS message, once the patient is admitted, with the phone number that they can contact through the application messaging and that the patient, the only one authorized for the interlocution, you will receive.

Currently in the Taulí de Sabadell there is a high limitation of visits, due to the harsh situation that our country is experiencing with the third wave of infections, except those admitted to Pediatrics, Mental Health or ICU / semi-critical, each with their schedules and regimes relevant. All this at a time when 18,557 people have died at the hands of the virus in Catalonia, to which some 167 have been added this Monday, as reported by the Generalitat of Health on its official website.
