They confiscate rice and construction materials in the house-store of Granma

The authorities of the eastern province of Granma seized several quintals of rice and resources to build. These products were found in a house converted into a warehouse in the Yara municipality. This event happened on Monday, July 17 of the current year in the José Martí neighborhood. The owner of the house that kept the items is known as Santiesteban. The officials of the Ministry of the Interior (MININT) confirmed that the confiscated rice is of national production.

Among the construction materials, 400 pieces of zinc for the roof of the homes were counted. These tiles in the informal market had a price of $7,000.00 CUP and the profits were calculated at $750,000.00 CUP.

The news was published on Facebook under a MININT profile titled “The faithful Cuban.” In the digital space itself, it is commented that more than 20 families will benefit from the zinc plates.

Other provinces also stop smuggling

They also commented on the case of rice, which, being the basic food of Cubans, can be favored in many homes. Santiesteban is in custody and the police continue to investigate with the aim of discovering the origin of the seized supplies.

At the beginning of this month of July, close to 5,000 kilograms of rice were seized in a house in the province of Guantanamo. In this place, other food items were found, such as peas, sugar, spaghetti, and around 200 containers of sardines.

In this action, 3 citizens were captured for the crime of speculation and hoarding. It was found that groceries are part of the products offered to consumers.

In the province of Villa Clara, specifically in Santa Clara, a vehicle carrying a large load of fish was intercepted. Among the merchandise there were 195 modules with fillets and 90 bags with bonefish mass. 200 units of snapper and 240 of various species were also transported.
