This January 3, the people of Holguin commemorated the passing of the Freedom Caravan through this territory, with the political-cultural act carried out in the Oscar Lucero community, belonging to the municipal seat. –
–
“62 years have passed since that memorable day when a large group of young people had the honor of accompanying Fidel Castro in the Caravan,” said, on their behalf, the combatant of the clandestine struggle and the Rebel Army, Vidal Simón Kings.
In relation to current challenges, such as the COVID-19 pandemic and the tightening of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed on Cuba, he noted:
“Our heroic people have firmly resisted, particularly the young people, who in these battles have their Moncada, their Granma, their Sierra Maestra, their Girón and have been at the height of the most honorable internationalist missions, following Marti’s principle that Homeland is Humanity “.

Precisely, the remembrance became the ideal context to recognize outstanding young people and give them the card that accredits them as members of the Union of Young Communists (UJC).
–
Likewise, the National Bureau of that organization awarded the status of Youth for Life to a total of seven institutions, among which are the People’s Provincial Court of Holguín, the Abel Santamaría Basic High School and the KTP Combined Cañeras Factory.
In the central words of the act, Yanelis Rodríguez Paneque, First Secretary of the Provincial Committee of the UJC, referred to the multiple tasks assumed by young people in the confrontation of the pandemic, food production and the fight against illegalities.
In addition, he specified that “we have had to face a subversive campaign on social networks, false news against the measures that the country has adopted in order to stop the effects of the pandemic not only on the health of the people, but also on the economy.” .

The space was chaired by Ernesto Santiesteban Velázquez, First Secretary of the Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and Julio César Estupiñán Rodríguez, governor of Holguín, as well as other leaders.
