Later, the state prosecution reported that The Military District Prosecutor’s Office in Plovdiv has brought criminal charges for assisting citizens of Syria to reside illegally in the country, the serviceman with the initials DD, who is a corporal in a unit in the Plovdiv region and is 40 years old, and two civilians – G.B., 25 years old, and 39- the annual I.P. The three are accused of having on March 10, 2023 illegally assisted 8 citizens of Syria to reside illegally in the country by transporting them from the town of Lyubimets to the land of Haskovo – a crime under Art. 281, para. 2, item 1 and item 5, paragraph para. 1, cf. Art. 20 paragraph 2 of the Criminal Code.

Around 5:00 p.m. on Friday, in the Haskovo area, a police patrol stopped a BMW car driven by a military man for inspection. It was driving as a pilot car in front of the Volkswagen Golf, driven by the woman, who was in advanced pregnancy. There were four citizens of Syria in the car she was driving. The 25-year-old G.B. also traveled with them. It was established that on the same day G.B. transported four other foreigners, also Syrians, in an Audi car, but his car broke down and he left them in the area of ​​Kenana Park near Haskovo. For this reason he moved to Golfa.

The migrants were loaded into the cars from the Lyubimets area and traveled to Sofia. They crossed illegally through the “green” border with Turkey.

The accused D.D. and G.B. were detained for up to 72 hours by decree of the supervising prosecutor. On March 13, 2023, at the request of the Military District Prosecutor’s Office in Plovdiv the court imposed a measure of remand on them “in custody”.

At the indictment a cash guarantee of BGN 5,000 was set for the woman, given her state of health.
