They carry out a campaign to donate clothes for people living in poverty

The Lima winter is becoming more and more intense and those who suffer the most are those who cannot shelter enough due to the lack of economic resources. In this context, the Daughters of Charity of Saint Vincent de Paul are carrying out the ‘Solidarity wardrobe’ campaign, which seeks to get clothing for the needy.

Isabel Altamirano Pérez, campaign manager, points out that the idea was born because they have been attending the popular dining room of the Virgen de Lourdes Pastoral Center, located on Avenida Nicolás de Piérola 1460, in Cercado de Lima.

Older adults, migrants, street vendors, men and women on the streets, and all kinds of people who live in poverty or extreme poverty come to this point. A day, 250 servings are delivered, between breakfasts and lunches.

With the arrival of winter, many of those who attend the dining room began to request clothes for themselves and their families, including minors.

For this reason, the Daughters of Charity of Saint Vincent de Paul urge people to donate clean and well-maintained clothing to shelter those in need. “The campaign has the purpose of sheltering those people who ask for winter clothing, since they cannot buy it because the confinement has greatly reduced their financial means,” says Sister Isabel.

Donations are received from Monday to Saturday from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm and from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm The address is Avenida Nicolás de Piérola 1460, in front of the El Hueco shopping center.

Those who wish to help the work of this religious group can also do so with food, especially staples, which allow the necessary rations to be delivered each day.
