Europol, the European police force, delivered this Friday a report in which it gave an account of the development of a large operation against networks dedicated to migrant smuggling, in the middle of which the capture of eight people considered the brains of a criminal network that would be responsible for the illegal transport of nearly 10,000 people, migrants, mostly from countries like Syria, Pakistan and Afghanistan.

According to the Europol report, the operation to dismantle the dangerous network was led by soldiers attached to the German forces, and included the participation of units in different countries on the continent, including Austria, Hungary, Romania, Serbia and the Netherlands.

The part delivered by the authorities indicates that, in addition to the arrest of the eight people, considered the brains of the organization, also the capture of another 126 individuals related to the criminal chain was achievedwhich, for the most part, were concentrated in Austria, according to Europol.

Regarding the operation carried out and coordinated by the pan-European police entity, Europol, it was detailed that it was officially launched last August 2021, and that its objective was to dismantling of a gang considered “highly dangerous”.

The part of the operation also shows that the people who were arrested, for the most part, respond to Syrian nationality, and were distributed in the different links of the dangerous chain of human trafficking, which included operations in the country of origin. , destination and in the process of transporting immigrants.

The investigation that finally allowed the capture and dismantling of the criminal network, recorded the occurrence of at least 916 scenarios related to the illegal transportation of peoplereferring to the location of victims in at least 151 homes that were registered in the framework of the investigations.

In addition to the recovery of the migrants and the capture of those responsible, the Europol also reported the seizure of nearly one million euros.

Regarding the operation of the gang, Europol warned that the criminals used cargo holds, vans and private vehicles to transport the migrants. from Turkey to the Balkan region, Romania and Hungaryconnection places from where they followed their transit to arrive in countries such as Austria, Germany and the Netherlands.

The Europol report warns that the network of human traffickers came to collect sums ranging between 4,000 and 10,000 euros from its ‘users’, who were transported in really precarious conditions and even put their lives at eminent risk.

Although the authorities did not specify the number of people apprehended in the framework of the operation, they did refer to it as a severe blow to the criminal structures dedicated to this business, pointing out that the captures and releases of children were carried out in the course of the May in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, as well as in the State of Colorado and in Ciudad Juárez, Mexico.

After the rescue of this group of minors, these were placed in the hands of medical authorities for their physical and psychological evaluation.
