Due to the presence of some cases of rabies in humans through transmission from an animal, it is important that pets be vaccinated, says the head of Teaching at the Small Species Veterinary Hospital of the University of Guadalajara, Rebeca Aurora Granados.
He details that any mammal can contract rabies, but there are animals such as dogs, cats, mice, raccoons and bats that are transmitters of the disease.
So, it is important that we identify which animals can transmit this virus, which unfortunately can be 100 percent lethal. The information that we can send to people is that they vaccinate their pets, if the vaccine in the case of dogs, in the case of cats it is a vaccine in most places it is completely free”.
It indicates that the only way rabies is transmitted is through a wound or bite. (By Claudia Manuela Pérez)
