They call for the donation of disused equipment: Chilenter will recondition and deliver computers to more than 650 vulnerable schools during 2021 | AdPress

  • The equipment delivered by the institution that belongs to the Network of Foundations of the Presidency led by the first lady, Cecilia Morel, and that will serve thousands of children in the country, are reconditioned and friendly to the environment. In turn, they contribute to the mitigation of thousands of tons of carbon dioxide into our atmosphere.

During 2020 the Chilenter Foundation delivered more than 420 computers to educational establishments, but by 2021 production will be increased in order to reach more than 650 schools throughout the country with computers.

And the idea is to start a new equipment delivery plan, which will add from this year and until April 2022, 7,540 equipment distributed to schools in vulnerable conditions.

This objective is achieved thanks to Chilenter’s alliance with the Center for Technological Innovation of the Ministry of Education.

The President of the Foundation, Cecilia Morel, stressed that this equipment delivery program will continue this year despite the pandemic: “it can reach corners of the country with technological scarcity and that when reconditioned it has an environmental benefit.”

In addition, he added: “With the contribution of Chilenter, we continue to support vulnerable students throughout the country. That is the mission and hallmark of the presidential foundations: to be there and support Chileans who have fewer opportunities. With this plan we arrive with computers in communes with a high vulnerability index, where the technology is very limited, even nil. In addition, these are ecological computers that are already friendly to the environment, an excellent way to reinforce sustainable policies to take care of our environment ”, assured the president of the Foundation.

And the thing is that the computers delivered by Fundación Chilenter are reconditioned equipment, that is, they are equipment assembled with parts and pieces that come from different donors or equipment that reaches the foundation’s premises.

This was explained by Gonzalo Lagos, executive director of the Foundation, who said that “one of the benefits that exists in the work carried out at Chilenter is to prevent these components or waste from ending up in the garbage or on the street, when they can really be useful”.

“We make sustainable use of what some see as electronic waste,” said Lagos. Who as an example indicated that the 7,540 equipment to be reconditioned this year is equivalent to the non-emission of 6,657 tons of Carbon Dioxide into the atmosphere, which translates into the change of 214,000 traditional bulbs for LED bulbs or the annual energy consumption of 892 houses.

In addition, all people who have PCs such as notebooks and desktops in their homes and want to contribute to this work, can bring them to the Foundation. These computers can be reconditioned and will end up being used by children in vulnerable schools.

You can deliver your equipment to the Fundación Chilenter facilities located at Compañía 4365, Quinta Normal, between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. from Monday to Friday.
