They calculated how much it costs to produce a Xiaomi 12S Ultra

Huge size, It debuted with a 1-inch camera sensor is Xiaomi’s new flagship, the 12S Ultra, and you’d think it would be one of the phone’s most expensive components, but as it turns out, that’s not the case at all.

A Counterpoint research company calculated how much it costs Xiaomi to produce a 12S Ultra, and they came up with 516 dollars, which when converted is slightly more than 200 thousand HUF. This includes not only the parts, but also the cost of assembly, testing, and the box, and its entire content. However, other costs such as transport, storage, marketing or development are no longer included. By the way, the end-user price of the phone is 6,000 yuan in China, which is roughly HUF 347,000.

It’s also worth checking how much the individual parts cost. The most expensive is the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip, which costs $128 (approx. HUF 50,000), followed by the AMOLED display supplied by Samsung at $89 (approx. HUF 35,000). The cameras cost “only” 79 dollars (approx. HUF 31,000) in total, which includes all the back units and the selfie camera. We don’t know how much the new 1-inch Sony IMX989 sensor will cost separately, but it’s far from the most expensive component.

Xiaomi’s biggest suppliers are Qualcomm, Samsung and Sony, so there is no question that the phone will be built from quality components, the only question is how successful it will be. The previous generation 11 Ultra sold roughly 2 million copies, we are curious to see if it will be possible to surpass this.
