A group of people lynched and burned a Mayan natural medicine expert and spiritual guide alive on June 6 in a village near the municipality of San Luis, in Guatemala, for allegedly practicing witchcraft.

Domingo Choc Che, known as Abuelo Domingo, was a member of a pharmaceutical research team made up of scientists from University College London, United Kingdom, and the universities of Zurich, Switzerland, and del Valle, Guatemala.

According to what was reported by RT, the man was killed by his neighbors because they believed that he had caused damage to several members of the community and the inhabitants of that village. During the event, they prevented the public order forces from accessing the place.

The murder of that specialist outraged both Guatemalan society and the European researchers with whom he worked. Guatemala’s human rights attorney, Jordán Rodas, also condemned the crime and has demanded justice from the authorities.
