They attribute delays to foreign agencies

Sources from the Ministry of Transportation in Cuba assure that most of the delays in the transfer of parcels sent to the island are due to “irregularities in the arrival of loads.”

The director of Cargo Transportation of Mitrans, Pablo Cuéllar González, said that “the packages are delivered by family members to a foreign correspondent, who has agreed 15 days with our freight forwarders for their arrival in the country; and, once the containers arrive, the freight forwarders have 30 days to deliver to customers.”

This emerged in a meeting held this Monday between the Prime Minister, Manuel Marrero Cruz, with representatives of the companies that receive and distribute international parcels in Cuba.

There, the delays in the distribution cycle were attributed mainly to problems of the agencies that make shipments from abroad, reported Granma. In fact, they pointed out that “of the total dissatisfaction received in this period, only 10% is addressed directly to the freight forwarders.”

According to Marrero Cruz, 103 complaints were received in one month and the most frequent cause is delays in deliveries. The leaders of the companies that deliver packages in Cuba alleged justifications beyond their responsibility, in most cases.

It’s not the first time. This year, from the Correos de Cuba business group they manifested that “although the parcel stores at origin say that the shipments are in Cuba in a week or at the latest in 15 days, the truth is that this does not always happen that way.”

SHIPMENTS TO CUBA: PACKAGE

According to the information provided, at the end of September, 183,623 packages from 110,694 clients were delivered, and 316 packages from 82 people were pending for more than 30 days.

However, the experiences of parcel delivery beneficiaries in Cuba contradict official information.

“I am self-employed with a work project that allows me to import supplies. I have a shipment of 6 packages of 20 kg and 1 of 15 kg placed in Panama by Aerovaradero, arriving in Havana since the first week of August and I have not yet received them. I am from the Mariel municipality, Artemisa province,” wrote a reader identified as Magaly in Cubadebate.

“Where is there to complain? My package was sent by Cubamax on 08/5 and arrived on 08/21. It has been 49 days in the Cubapack warehouses in Havana,” claimed another affected customer.

Beyond avoiding their responsibility, the Cuban freight forwarders themselves have admitted On other occasions, there are “financial and fuel limitations” that do not allow them to offer a quality service. All this, while incorporating new features. So who to believe?
