Eduardo Soteldo | LARA’S PRESS.- Leonardo Santilli, a contractor for Petroleos de Venezuela (PDVSA), accused of money laundering by the United States Government, was killed this Tuesday in Lechería in Anzoátegui state by multiple shots.
The businessman from Zulia was surprised by men who were aboard a Kawasaki KLR-650 motorcycle in the Farmatodo parking lot and received several shots. This according to photojournalist Eleazar Urbaez.
According to what the journalist Maibort Petit said, it would be a case of hired assassins. It has published on the Venezuelapolítica portal the story behind the official who died this Tuesday.
Santilli is accused of laundering millions of dollars through contract PDVSA fraudulent. The North American authorities intervened up to 17 bank accounts that belonged to the businessman and managed to freeze at least 44.7 million dollars, according to what Petit reports.
As a result of the investigation, Santilli was charged with conspiracy to commit crimes of money laundering, instruments for money laundering and illegal monetary transactions committed between 2014 and 2017.
Add that the contractor was the owner of several companies such as Constructora Cosaco Co., PLD Inversiones CA, and the firms SGP Group Corp and A&M Support Inc.
