“They asked for loans”: Folkloric group of older adults denounces a scam with a trip to the Dominican Republic

Older adults, belonging to a folk group, denounce that her dance teacher he scammed them with 32 million pesos which were supposedly intended for finance a trip to the Dominican Republic. Something that never happened.

“I was telling half the world that I was going to travel to the Dominican Republic, but no problem”confessed Hernan Rivera, member of the folkloric group Renacer, from Peñalolén, to CHV News.

The promise was to present their dances in said country and, with effort, 31 of its members managed to raise the money, specific, $950 thousand per person, Amounts that were mostly delivered in cash, with the only proof being a piece of paper that has no legal validity.

The worst of all?, They were informed of the cancellation the same day of the trip.

“In Santo Domingo we were going to dance twice and from there we were going to go to a resort in Punta Cana (…) It was changing the versions within the year until now he comes to say that he was scammed ”, detailed Marianela Ascencio.

“Some have asked for loans (…) there are people who are still paying dues ”, Don Hernán added.
