They ask to incorporate immunotherapy into breast cancer coverage

During the time of discussion of the requests for resolutions and agreements, the Chamber of the Chamber approved three requests to the Executive this week for coverage of breast cancer treatments.

Likewise, in matters of farmers’ debts and reductions in the payment of cleaning fees.

Firstly, resolution 1258 that requests the incorporation of specific treatments for triple negative breast cancer CMTN, providing coverage in Fonasa for immunotherapy treatment.

According to what was explained by the promoter of the initiative, Congresswoman Marta Bravo (UDI), this type of cancer is much more aggressive and affects women under 40 years of age.

The resolution details that, although breast cancer is protected with coverage in high-cost public funds, approximately 45 billion pesos are used in innovative therapies for HER2 and Hormonal type breast cancer.

But these do not have any coverage for patients suffering from triple negative breast cancer, since immunotherapy treatment is not included in the options of the public system, while through the private system it can be accessed through Additional Coverage for Catastrophic Illnesses , CAEC.

Representative Bravo was accompanied in the presentation of this request by representatives Marlene Pérez (IND), Natalia Romero (IND), Flor Weisse (UDI), Chiara Barchiesi (PREP), Sofía Cid (IND) and Catalina Del Real (IND). , Camila Flores (RN), Paula Labra (IND) and Ximena Ossandón (RN).

Toilet Rights

In turn, by 127 votes in favor and one abstention, the Chamber approved resolution 1257 that asks the President of the Republic to present a short law that enables a new period for regularization of debts contracted for municipal cleaning rights.

The document recalls that, in April 2023, the Ley 21.554which introduced measures to facilitate the payment of debts for cleaning rights and expanded the powers of the Treasury Service to collect them, the benefit of which expired on April 18, 2024.

Its objective was to reduce taxpayers’ debts for cleaning, allowing municipalities to sign agreements to settle these commitments, and forgive interest and fines.

The text presented by Congresswoman Carolina Tello (FA) states that at the end of the law’s validity, there were large crowds, the websites of the municipalities collapsed, preventing, especially, older people from completing said process.

Farmers debts

Finally, with 112 votes in favor and 18 abstentions, the Chamber also approved resolution 1256 that requests to the Minister of Agriculture to forgive the debts of farmers in the Coquimbo region, specifically in the province of Limarí, registered in the Indap Water Shortage File.

The request is made to support the communities in the area in the current moment of water crisis in which they find themselves. The text explains that, since March 2021, a water shortage decree has been in force in the province of Limarí. Added to this is a declaration of agricultural emergency due to water deficit.

The resolution was presented by Nathalie Castillo (PC), along with her colleagues María Candelaria Acevedo (PC), Héctor Barría (DC), María Francisca Bello (FA), Carolina Marzán (PPD), Jaime Mulet (FRVS), Emilia Nuyado ( PS), Matías Ramírez (PC) and Marisela Santibáñez (IND).

Agreements

Additionally, the Chamber approved two Agreements where the Chamber expresses its concern about the lack of policies that better address the regulation of teleworking in the public sector and the control of feral dogs.

This is, first of all, Agreement No. 29, which states that in terms of teleworking, the rule applicable to public officials does not allow flexibility according to the different realities of the services for officials to access this type of work (see note related).

Likewise, Agreement No. 30 that raises the inefficiency in policies on responsible ownership, in the context of the debate on the control of feral dogs (see related note).
