Family and friends of a Cuban man shot dead in the city of Houston, Texas, are asking for help to repatriate his body to his native Santiago de Cuba.
According to information circulating online, young Yoandris Bisté Rodríguez was murdered after a traffic accident.
Laura Garay who opened the campaign on the platform GoFundMepoints out that the young man was traveling through the city on April 26 at dawn, when his vehicle was hit in the rear.
As he approached the other vehicle, the Cuban was shot at point-blank range, which ended his life.
“I am organizing this fundraising account to help my friend Omara Rodríguez in these difficult times due to the loss of her only son Yoandris. On Friday, April 26, in the early morning, when Yoandris was heading to her workplace, he was hit by another vehicle from the rear. At that moment, Yoandris approached the other car to coordinate details of the accident and was surprised with point-blank shots,” reads on the platform.
The woman described the murdered young man as a good person, an excellent father and a good friend.
“The pain has been a lot. Because Yoandris, her father and mother, have been very loved by everyone. It’s time to be able to help. “I promised his mother that we would send her her little son and that’s how it will be,” added the user on social networks.
The incident was reported by Cuban influencer Niover Licea, who noted that the deceased was 29 years old and an only child.
According to Licea, the young man had received three gunshot wounds to the chest, just a few meters from the place where he worked.
The incident remains under investigation, as the driver responsible for the accident fled the scene after shooting the Cuban. The main problem is that, since it is a homicide investigation, the authorities cannot return the young man’s body until it is concluded.
Comments made in the publications in which the murder of the young man is reported indicate that Yoandris would have arrived in the United States after undertaking an irregular trip through Central America and Mexico, crossing the southern border of the North American country.
