They ask for help for the Cuban artist Rolando Pulido, sick in New York

| 04/01/2021 – 1:55pm (GMT-4)

Cuban writer Orlando Luis Pardo Lazo launched a fundraising campaign to help the designer and exiled Cuban artist Rolando Pulido, who is admitted to a New York hospital and has lost the ability to walk.

According to Pardo Lazo, Pulido “is one of the most creative designers in Cuban civil society” and has voluntarily been one of the creators of “its modern image”, without having charged any money for this work.

In the New York hospital, the designer is “going cold” in solitude, and needs daily physical therapy to walk again, the writer stressed in the space of The mornings of CiberCuba.

“Like every beautiful man, like every young man,” this situation “has hampered his will to live,” he added.

“Let’s help Rolando, please. It is just and necessary. For years and years, he has gifted us all with the beauty of his work and the goodness of his soul. He never asked for anything in return. Nor is he asking for it now. I ask you, with the same heart to write in the name of freedom, ”Pardo Lazo commented in the statement of the fundraising campaign.

The designer Rolando Pulido is a native of Cienfuegos, but at the age of 18 he left Cuba during the Mariel exodus in 1980. Since that date, he has lived in New York where, in addition to having collaborated with the image design and advertising of emblematic places such as the Blue Note jazz club, Cooper’s bar, Strand bookstore, or the stages of the legendary Saturday Night program Live, Pulido has provided his services to the cause for the freedom of Cuba.

That is why Brown Tie, known for his opposition to the Cuban regime, considers Pulido as the “magician of pixels”, since his work, from a “fun and colorful” point of view, has touched on many of the important issues for Cuban civil society such as the exodus, racism, homophobia and the various political campaigns of organizations such as Cuba Decides, or others committed to democracy in Cuba.

“We have just reached the middle of our campaign to save the life of Cuban designer Rolando Pulido from New York. Thank you very much, dear brothers and sisters ”, thanked the writer yesterday on Facebook.

However, to date, of the goal of $ 5,000 outlined by the campaign, $ 2,840 has been achieved, more than half of the money that will return, through treatment, “the desire to live” to Pulido.
