They ask for books to give school support to more than 1,000 children | Cuyo’s diary

As the pandemic began to ease, little by little the libraries resumed activities. In this context, the Juana Azurduy library began a campaign to collect books that will be donated to more than 1,000 children from 32 picnic areas in the province. This, to give them school support and so that they can do their homework at home. “We ask for school books, magazines and even language dictionaries. There are many children who cannot access these books and the idea is to help them with what they donate to us,” said Yésica Costa, in charge of the library located in Villa El Salvador, in Chimbas, and commented that in addition to the children of the picnic areas, the books will also be useful for those who attend the school support classes that they give in the library.

Costa commented that a few days ago, while they were analyzing how to help the children they regularly visit, they thought of doing this campaign. “The idea is that people donate books in the state they are in. Many times one thinks that the school book is no longer useful because it has the activities completed or parts are missing, but we give it another use,” said the librarian, commenting that the idea is that these books are used by children who need to cut and paste images, texts and words. “There are parents who can go out to buy a magazine or print what they need, but others who cannot, due to the economic situation,” she said.

Regarding the beneficiaries, Costa said that the idea is to help the youngest children, who are the ones who use books the most for these activities. “But there are also very useful books for older children. Although they are given the books in schools, there are times when they need others to be able to do activities or review the topics,” he explained and said that for this reason all books will be welcome. . On the other hand, he said that the children who will receive these books are the members of 32 picnic areas that they regularly help in different departments. “In those picnic areas, which are even in very remote villages, there are just over 1,000 children and we have more than 30 who attend weekly school support classes that we give in the library and they will also be beneficiaries,” concluded the librarian.
