Two people have been detained in connection with the export of a large amount of money from KTB, one of them has been charged, the prosecutor’s office announced.
According to the BNB governor’s report to the prosecutor’s office, a total of BGN 205.9 million was transferred from the bank’s treasury.
Today in Sozopol, Orlin Rusev – chairman of the Management Board and executive director of KTB AD, was detained, for whom there is evidence that he personally ordered the above-mentioned sums to be taken out of the bank’s treasury and given to third parties;
On July 10, 2014 Margarita Petrova – chief treasurer of KTB AD – was brought in as an accused person for a crime committed under Article 203 of the Criminal Code (misappropriation on a particularly large scale, representing a particularly serious case). She removed the above amounts from the vault in sacks and handed them over to third parties. Petrova has been ordered to be detained for up to 72 hours, and during this period a request will be prepared to the court for a remand measure “detention in custody”.

An extremely large number of witnesses were questioned, documents and recordings from security cameras were seized, graphological and technical examinations were appointed, the state prosecution also reported.
At the moment, active procedural and investigative actions are being carried out, including an inspection of the treasury of KTB AD.
The auditors’ report on the review of KTB’s assets and liabilities is expected to be submitted to the prosecutor’s office today. Immediately after receiving it, it will be added to the case concerning the activity of the banking supervision of the BNB in relation to KTB AD, and the team of prosecutors and investigators working on this case will analyze the findings and prepare a plan for urgent actions on them.
