The Silistra District Court determined the most severe pre-trial detention measure “detention” for 61-year-old Maria Dimitrova, accused of embezzlement of more than BGN 350,000 from Dulovo municipality during 2012-2018.
The investigation began four years ago after a financial audit of the Dulovo municipality. It therefore appears clear that the woman, in her capacity as senior specialist – cashier, unduly embezzled over 350,000 levs, which she had been entrusted with managing.
The crime was committed from January 2012 to December 2018.
An inspection found that while preparing payslips, the defendant wrote non-deductible additional salary to herself and other employees, embezzling funds from the budget of the Dulovo Municipality.
The woman was an employee of the municipal administration from 1990 until 2018, the year in which she was released.
Then she went abroad, until she was detained in Hungary and extradited to our country.
The court’s decision is subject to appeal before the Varna Court of Appeal, it was announced BNR extension.
