Miami-Dade County authorities arrested a woman accused of being responsible for hitting the vehicle in which two young Cubans were traveling on the morning of Friday, December 8.
According to the media Local 10 Newsthe woman was identified as Dymariz Picon, and she was the person driving a pick-up truck that hit the Antilleans’ van, sending them to the hospital in serious condition.
The media indicates that the woman fled the scene of the accident on foot with another person, all while a third passenger died inside the pick-up.

The local media America TeVé reported earlier in the day that the pick-up truck was fleeing after trying to rob a business on Coral Way.
The injured were identified as Alexis González Martínez, 30, and José G. Pérez Estévez, 26, who were rushed to a nearby hospital. According to the aforementioned media, one of the young people is at risk of dying, while the other has shown a better recovery.
Police confirmed Picon’s arrest, however, they did not reveal further details such as the location of the arrest. The only thing that is known is that the woman was arrested on Friday night and that she is already at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
Now, the woman faces numerous charges including vehicular manslaughter, leaving the scene of a fatal accident, two counts of leaving the scene of an accident with injuries and eluding police. The judge in charge of the case set bail at $33,000.
A quick look at the arrested woman’s social media reveals that her family is also originally from the Greater Antilles, but has resided in the United States for years.
The accident surprised the residents of the area, who revealed to the television cameras that this was not the first similar incident that had been recorded in the area.
“The situation is really desperate, because right around the corner from my house several accidents have occurred in the past, and I have great fear because years ago a car unexpectedly entered my yard,” declared one of the neighbors interviewed by the local environment.
