EL PASO, Texas – The City of El Paso Department of Animal Services, in collaboration with the El Paso County Department of Animal Welfare and event sponsor Petco Love, is hosting its third pet wellness clinic in the city.
The appointment is from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, August 18 at 6500 Bonanza St.
This free vaccination and microchip clinic creates accessible opportunities for the health and safety of community pets, which is especially necessary as more than 14,000 animals have entered the care of El Paso Animal Services this year.
Microchipping and vaccinating pets helps ensure they can be rehomed if lost and protects them from deadly diseases in the El Paso area.
The clinic, designed with convenience in mind, operates on a first-come, first-served basis and is limited to the first 500 pets.
Participants are reminded to keep their pets inside their vehicles during the drive-thru clinic. Dogs must be leased securely and cats must be placed in a suitable carrier.
At the clinic, all pets will be microchipped, dogs will receive a parvo/distemper vaccine, which protects against two life-threatening infectious diseases.
Cats can receive the feline viral rhinotracheitis, calicivirus, and panleukopenia (FVRCP) vaccine, which protects against three common and life-threatening diseases in cats.
Pets six weeks of age or older are eligible for vaccination; No other pet vaccinations will be available. Rabies vaccines will not be available during this event.
El Paso Animal Services encourages the community to take advantage of this event. By doing this, you not only reduce the risk of disease outbreaks, but you also ensure a healthier future for your furry companions.
