“They are stealing our Historical Pact”: Gustavo Bolívar on guarantees

Former Senator Gustavo Bolívar stirred up the country’s political arena with his recent criticism of the endorsements given by Roy Barreras, through his Fuerza de la Paz party, to various pre-candidates in the regions such as Dumek Turbay and Dilian Francisca Toro. In addition, he exposed his concern to certain dynamics in the local chapters of petrism.

“This is an alert message for all the members of the Historical Pact, especially the members of Colombia Humana, Polo Democrático, Unión Patriótica and MAIS. Comrades, some members of the community are beginning to align themselves with sectors of the traditional parties and corrupt political groups. If we allow the Pact to end up endorsing those who have morally prostrated this country, we will blur ourselves as a community and break the word of change that we offered to a country that had hope in us,” said Bolívar.

And he stressed: “However, I want to tell you that there are many of us here who are willing to fight so that the corrupt do not keep this marvel, with what we created, with this idea of Gustavo Petro. Allowing that would go against uniting the country around ideas to give people social inclusion, happiness, health, education, rights and lasting peace.

For Bolívar, his community must be attentive to the endorsements that will be given to candidates for mayors, governorships, councils, assemblies, and local administrative boards, because “many neopetristas want to fall there, men and women who have now appeared in all regions taking advantage of the boom of the Historical Pact and that we are the Government. Now they no longer think that Gustavo Petro is a guerrilla and now they do not lower him as a statesman, when before, when the president was not in his plans, they criticized him and pointed them out, “said the former senator.

And he urged: “So be very careful because they are going to steal this country from us. We came to politics to fight the corrupt, not to ally with them. If we do, we will cause a lot of people to lose hope in politics and the high votes we got last year were worthless. We cannot disappoint those hearts that we awaken”.

Although no names were mentioned in Gustavo Bolívar’s video, his position was established in the midst of the media coup that has caused the launch of Fuerza de la Paz, Roy Barreras’ new party, and the list of pre-candidates they have to run for mayor and governorates.

However, in dialogue with Semana magazine, he expressed having “doubts that Dilian Francisca Toro (former governor of Valle del Cauca) and Dumek Turbay are decent.” Bolívar requested a meeting of the presidents of the different parties that make up the Pact to analyze the arrival of various names in the regions and put on the table their eventual departure from the community given these guarantees from Barreras.

“If one is not consistent with this promise of change, it is better to step aside. If the other leaders say that former governors Dilian Francisca Toro and Dumek Turbay are welcome, we will leave. I am not going to risk my life for a project that sells lies, that does not have to be the Historical Pact”, Bolívar pointed out.

And regarding the evidence that he would be expected to provide to substantiate his allegations, he told Semana: “Now Roy will come out and say show the evidence, but people know who is who in this country. There is a lot of guilty going from innocent thanks to his levers or his money to buy a judgment or to distort justice ”.

Roy Barreras’ request

In the presentation of his new political party, Gloria Arizabaleta, congresswoman and ex-wife of Roy Barreras, was announced as vice president of the movement. However, her role did not last even 24 hours because she resigned for “independence and consistency with the principles of the government of change.” Arizabaleta showed her disagreement with the delivery of possible endorsements from the party and assured that she was never consulted about it, being she a co-founder.

“Resignation accepted. No comments”, was the concise response that Roy Barreras gave on Twitter. In the same social network, today the president of the Senate affirmed that there are names that are speculated as regional candidates without having decided their participation. Such is the case of Dilian Toro, Mabel Lara, among others, whom the politician assured that they were invited to participate.

Regarding Dumek, he confirmed him as a candidate; However, he asked for clarification: “Common friends from allied parties have suggested it without mentioning to me that he has legal impediments. Although we will be protected by the official one-stop mechanism to verify if rumors are fact. I request the candidate Dumek to respond with the judicial truth. Because although the warehouses are slander factories, they have spread alleged 14 lawsuits for paramilitarism. Links with paramilitaries or mafias absolutely rule out endorsements from the Force. On the contrary, we denounce them”.

“It’s a scoundrel”

Consulted by El Universal in relation to the controversy, Dumek Turbay expressed: “I do not have to clarify what lies are. I have never given focus to the recalcitrant attacks of detractors where these false accusations come from, so I prefer to focus on the invitation that we are making to the region to unite in a consensus in favor of Cartagena”.

And he stressed: “I am attentive to the alleged 14 complaints about paramilitarism. I have no complaint, that is, that is a scoundrel, one more crap. I am surprised is the fear of the local candidates of the Historical Pact, because the infamy and slander come from warehouses and are working against our project. I can talk about the political and the planning that Cartagena needs, so the vote of confidence of Fuerza de la Paz is an endorsement to continue strengthening a great alliance to rescue the city with solutions.

Historic Pact closes ranks

The Petrista community in Cartagena and Bolívar, through a statement, indicated that the conclusion of an extraordinary meeting between its members and their candidates was to reject the presence of Dumek Turbay in the Barreras party.

“Dumek does not comply with the political, ethical and moral postulates of our community. His way of doing politics does not represent the change we need today to transform the state of prostration that a hegemonic and corrupt political class has left us for decades ”, they reported.

The signatories invited Roy Barreras to look for a new candidate for the Mayor of Cartagena to submit to the internal selection processes. “Preferably someone who has been in tune in the last elections with our political project for Congress and the Presidency,” they concluded.
