/ world today news/ “There is no context and crisis that would justify the government of a civilized country proclaiming itself as the last instance of “truth”
There is something particularly synthetic and unconvincing about so many of the modern progressive Western politicians. You listen to them talk about white male systemic racism and the green deal and menstruating people and gender fluidity and carbon neutrality, and you get a kind of sticky laboratory aftertaste.
The liberal leaders of the New Western Consensus are mocking you with the “clone aesthetic” and reminding you of that term from robotics – the “Uncanny Valley”. The uncanny valley describes that unsettling feeling of a decline (“valley”) in friendliness and the emergence of dislike, disgust, and even fear, at the sight of a strongly but not entirely human-like object – most notably a humanoid robot. The term was first coined by Japanese robotics professor Masahiro Mori in the 1970s.
Well, quite a few politicians repeating the same thing with an identical grimace of cheeky grin evoke associations with the “uncanny valley” where humanoid robots look almost like us. Almost.
The futuristic and dystopian elements are heightened when crisis situations remove the mask of feigned politeness from the faces of liberal leaders, and underneath we see the mechanical and expressionless brutality of their profoundly totalitarian design.
That’s what happened to a clip from the height of the pandemic that seemed to have been buried under the chaos of that all-pervading madness, and these days has resurfaced to send shivers down the spines of millions of people who live with the idea that they inhabit developed and transparent representative democracies.
The video features New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern – one of the most aggressively corporate media-promoted statesmen of our time. She was given by the progressive consensus manufacturing machine the halo of a young world leader and a role model throughout the West. New Zealand’s ‘Zero Covid’ strategy has been cited as a recipe for success in the crisis by such navigators of global health policy as Bill Gatesand her government’s crushing of freedom and civil rights were ignored by the industrial information complex.
But these days New Zealand has a record death toll from Covid, the health system is in chaos and Jacinda’s political legacy is undergoing a dramatic reappraisal. And right now we recall those monstrous lines of hers: “We will continue to be your only source of truth. If you haven’t heard it from us – then it’s not true!”
Fact-check fetishists tried to kill the ominous effect of the mass sharing of Jacinda’s practically dictatorial video with hollow phrases about context and the covid crisis, but for anyone with their sanity these media efforts are ugly but futile.
The audacity of a politician to elevate power to the position of absolute truth is an incredibly unpleasant picture. There is no context and no crisis that would justify the government of a civilized country proclaiming itself the ultimate authority of “truth”. We have come to expect remarks like Jacinda Ardern’s from despotic authoritarian regimes, in which there is also a 50-meter golden statue of him in the central square of the capital, named after the president-for-life. But not from the global superstar of Western liberalism.
Government in representative democracies should serve the citizens, administer, protect the borders and security of the people who support it with their taxes. Not to dictate to them a design for reality and truthto place them in the position of property of the state.
Relatively solid levels of geopolitical harmony and economic prosperity could blunt the sense of the “uncanny valley” and distance dictatorial monologues from the agenda of the liberal international. The mask could look somewhat ridiculous, but it concealed the appetite for biting off national sovereignty and individual freedom. But the situation is radically different and provokes the peeling of the facade, and the spitting of the pebble about the “only source of truth”.
Worst of all, lab leaders like Jacinda Ardern probably truly believe in their superiority and calling to transform the world. She is another product of Klaus Schwab’s “Young Global Leaders” program, which is part of his terrifyingly influential non-governmental and lobbying organization the World Economic Forum. Schwab himself looks and talks like a James Bond villain, and the World Economic Forum, in addition to leaders like Jacinda, touts other wonderful things like “a future where nobody owns anything and is happy” and eating insects. The organization also wrote how beautiful empty cities look during lockdown, and these days they also spoke out against the “wasteful” use of private cars.
The future that elite designers like Schwab and his global liberal leaders like Jacinda are planning for the middle class of Western civilization is indeed an “uncanny valley”. Opposition to this “one truth of theirs” is now mandatory.
