Electronic Arts Inc. and Starz Media have announced that they are beginning production on an animated film based on Dante’s immortal work, Inferno.
The project will expand the story in the new, must-have game for Xbox 360® and PLAYSTATION®3 that EA will release in 2010. An add-on to EA’s popular game that takes gamers to the Nine Circles of Hell described in Dante Alighieri’s epic poem. Just as the poem and the game take players on an exciting journey through the nine circles of Hell, the animated film “Dante s Inferno” will follow Dante and his journey through the vestibule of Hell, lust, gluttony, greed, anger, heresy, violence, deceit and treachery in searching for his true love Beatrice. Both are based on the first part of Dante Alighieri’s classic poem The Divine Comedy, better known as Dante’s Inferno. To further limit each of the nine rounds, EA and Film Roman (co-producers of the “Dante s Inferno” project) took the innovative step of selecting unique looks from various studios experienced in creating some of the best anime in the industry to tell the classic story. Film Roman’s Joe Goye (“Dead Space: Downfall”) is producing the project, directed by Victor Cook (“The Spectacular Spider-Man,” “Hellboy Animated: Blood & Iron”) and written by Brandon Ohman (“Iron Man: Armored Adventures”). “This is unlike anything else on the market to date – a magnificent visual project based on one of the most powerful stories ever told,” said Film Roman President Jay Fukuto. “The project could only be possible with the support of a partner with EA’s vision and creativity. In 2008, Film Roman produced Dead Space: Downfall, an animated prequel to EA’s award-winning Dead Space.
