MEXICO CITY, October 24 (EL UNIVERSAL) .- The Secretariat of Tourism of Mexico City launched the Colibrí Viajero wellness tourism program, which seeks to bring these activities closer to single mothers, older adults, girls and boys and vulnerable people.
With this, the residents of the capital will be able to enjoy all the attractions that Mexico City has, such as museums, parks, as well as emblematic places such as the center of Coyoacán, the trajineras of Xochimilco, the Palace of Fine Arts and know all those stories that house the streets of the capital.
During the event, the head of the capital dependency, Paola Félix Díaz, handed over the first symbolic credential, which will be distributed and will guarantee that people are part of the program, which will be free.
He said that 1,300 people are affiliated to carry out tours with tourist guides, and that another objective is that the number of beneficiaries reaches 1,700,000 people.
“It is quality tourism for single mothers, housewives, for boys and girls, for the elderly,” he said during the event that gave the buses the starting signal, in Plaza Tlaxcoaque, in the Historic Center of the Mexico City.
Paola Félix assured that this program also returns spaces that were forgotten in past administrations so that the citizens of the capital can now enjoy them.
And it is that with Colibrí Viajero, people will be able to make trips than a foreigner.
They will also be able to enter cultural events held by individuals, as well as the Inbursa and Kidzania aquariums.
“It is not a short-term program, but will be implemented in the next three years,” said the Secretary of Tourism.
The first transport units began their tours of different tourist sites, where people were explained how the great city was being built.
The first 1,300 participants of this program are mainly girls, boys, mothers and fathers, as well as older adults, whose first stage began this Saturday and will conclude on December 19 of this year, during the Christmas holidays, to then resume the program. In total, 400 transport units will be used in the first phase.
Félix Díaz was accompanied by the Secretary of the Government of Mexico City, Martí Batres, as well as Gabriela Cámara, Honorary President of the Mixed Fund for Tourism Promotion; Rafael García, president of the Association of Hotels of Mexico City; Julián Arroyo, from the Mexican Association of Travel Agencies AMAV Mexico City, and Germán González, from Canirac Nacional and CDMX, who witnessed the launch of the tourism program.
There, Félix Díaz explained that at the end of the first stage at the end of this year, at least 20 thousand people will have benefited from this “fair tourism” scheme, which makes it possible for any inhabitant of Mexico City or visitor, in particular the less favored, receive tourist services in a dignified, quality, accessible manner and without any type of discrimination.
Viajero Colibrí is a Program of the Government of Mexico City whose objective is to encourage the less favored population groups to integrate into tourist activities, which allow them to generate roots, admiration and pride, generating well-being and happiness.
