The National Police have carried out a series of operations in the Aburrá Valley which resulted in the arrest of 15 members of criminal groups. These actions were carried out in an effort to combat crimes such as kidnapping and extortion, which have devastated several communities in the area. The arrests were mostly in the neighborhoods of Robledo, the town of San Antonio de Prado and in the towns of Copacabana, Girardota and Barbosa.
Among the detainees, six people who were caught in San Antonio de Prado stand out, where the authorities arrested two people called “Yiyo” and “Chichón“. The two have been identified as alleged ringleaders of a group that specialized in attacking local merchants and drug trafficking operations. In the Robledo area, the authorities managed to capture three people who were involved in extortion, theft and kidnapping crimes. These operations were part of a wider strategy aimed at eliminating crime in the area. In addition, in the north of Strath Aburrá, six people were arrested on charges of kidnapping for ransom and aggravated robbery. This group, led by a man known as “Chance”, had a modus operandi which involved entering recreational farms to kidnap residents and extort money. stole from their bank accounts. The Police confirmed that violence and mockery were part of their strategy to control their victims.
