During the year-end holidays is when the demand for blood donation is highest, due to the number of accidents that are usually recorded, which is why health authorities call for voluntary donation. The person in charge of La Casa del Donante, Dr. Marisa Brítez, said that to cover the needs the Hemocentro had to carry out external collections, due to the lack of interest in donating voluntarily.

The professional reported that at the end of November there were four days of collections with the support of a private university and a health insurance firm, where they managed to attract about 235 voluntary donors. “In December, the influx of donors generally decreases. But the Hemocentro, anticipating that, was organizing external donor collections with the help of several institutions, which will help us meet the needs at this time,” explained the doctor. She herself highlighted the importance of approaching the Donor House, since from there they are distributed to all the hospitals in the department of Alto Paraná.

“We also urge the population to come and donate at the Donor House, since there we receive all donors whose donations will be divided into the different blood components (red blood cells, plasma, platelets) that will be used in all hospitals of the tenth department,” he said. Blood is a vital resource that is needed to save lives, it cannot be manufactured and its availability to all people who need it depends on each caring donor.

The place is located next to the Area 1 School. People who want to donate can come from Monday to Friday from 07:00 to 17:00 and on Saturdays from 07:00 to 15:30.
