The young Brazilian Endrick is close to arriving at Real Madrid next year and his arrival has generated a lot of expectation. The signing is valued at at least 35 million fixed euros (a little more than $37 million dollars), with possibilities of reaching up to 60 million ($64.61 million dollars). However, this talented 17-year-old was on the verge of joining the Premier League with Chelsea.

Although Endrick is currently seen as Real Madrid’s great future project, the father of the footballer from Palmeiras revealed that they were very close to closing an agreement with the Stamford Bridge team. In statements collected by the Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, the player’s father detailed the entire situation.

“We received an invitation from Chelsea, from the owner, and we went there to see the club and the country. We saw Chelsea play against Arsenal and we had the opportunity to see the coach, the facilities, Jorginho, César Azpilicueta and Thiago Silva,” Endrick’s father explained.

“They explained everything to us. They introduced us to the person who would help us get settled. She showed us the house we would live in, the school Endrick would attend, the church we would attend. Everything was in order for us and for Chelsea,” revealed Douglas de Sousa, father of the Brazilian prodigy.

However, when it seemed that everything was agreed, the operation was cut short. “Everything went wrong at the last moment: I can’t say it 100% because I hadn’t signed yet, but the agreement was closed. He had already thought that he would live in London with all that cold weather. But then, at night, my son’s representative called and said that the owner of Chelsea withdrew from the deal because the price they would have to pay for Endrick would inflate the market,” said the footballer’s father.

“It was 60 million euros in total for a 17-year-old boy who would arrive in the country almost two years later,” explained Endrick’s father, concluding by saying that “then Real Madrid arrived.”
