Salvador Y Adam, the 17 and 21-year-old children of Melitón Velasco, 56-year-old builder who lost his life in the Gold Line, they were traveling in adjoining seats on Monday night in the fourth subway car that crashed on Monday night between Olivos and Tezonco stations.
On the other side of the train, also seated, was Melitón. At 10:22 p.m. they heard a crash and then a sharp, sharp blow that sent them to the front of the wagon. They had no time to hold onto the tubes and everyone in the car piled up on a human mountain, one on top of the other.
“Everything happened in three seconds, we were coming on the train and suddenly it felt as if we had collided with something, then the light went out,” Salvador recalled.

Salvador and his brother stayed on top of several of the users without knowing what was happening. They thought that the train had crashed, that an earthquake had occurred, they were not clear about what was happening.
“Nobody had a notion of what had happened, we did not know if he had fallen or if we had hit something, we did not know what had happened. All the passengers from the back to the front were traversed at the time of the hit. Everyone collided with everyone, a ball was made at the moment of the blow, all of us were on a mountain, “he said.
Moments later, in pain, they were able to get up, dodging bodies, some of them inert and others still lying inside the train trying to stand up.
“There were like 10 to 15 people without moving, we were able to walk out like five or seven people. I and my brother were able to walk out, ”he said.

Melitón was lost from sight, they no longer knew where he was. The emergency services arrived and Salvador was transferred to a different hospital than Adam’s.
“I did not know where they transferred my father or my brother, I knew about them until yesterday. I had minor injuries, not high risk, my whole body hurts, my brother has a stroke in his eye, “he said.
The two brothers were discharged on Tuesday and then they learned that their father had died at the ISSSTE Hospital in Tláhuac, due to the severity of the injuries he suffered.
The father and the two sons are engaged in masonry and were returning from working on a construction site in the country’s capital.
On that line of the Collective Transportation System they moved to the construction site in the morning and by that same they returned to their house located in the town of San Juan Tezompa, belonging to Chalco, when the accident occurred.
They watch over their father
The Mexico City Attorney General’s Office handed over Melitón’s body to his relatives, who watched over him at his humble home in the Chalco community. Other loved ones, friends and neighbors joined in the family’s grief.
In the courtyard of the building the coffin was placed, wreaths of flowers surrounded a photograph of the father of seven children and a cross that was near his head.
Until now, Melitón’s relatives have not received help from the authorities of Mexico City or the State of Mexico.
“It is a pain, it is a courage that one feels for not having answers at this time, so far only the prosecution and Public Ministry have helped us with the funeral home and the rest of the compensation and medical expenses that arose clearly that they have to answer us, of course they have to solve this for all the people who are affected by this event ”, expressed Elizabeth, another of Melitón’s daughters.
Due to the lack of official assistance, loved ones had to struggle to find a place to bury Melitón. In the town of San Juan Tezompa where they live, they could not do so because by uses and customs only the original people of the community are buried and Melitón was not born there, he came to reside with his family several decades ago.
Finally, on Wednesday afternoon, in the San Sebastián neighborhood cemetery, also in Chalco, his body was taken to where his family, friends and neighbors said their last goodbye.
Now Melitón’s family demands justice and punishment for those responsible for what happened because he mourned several families.
