/ world today news/ Kyiv is gathering forces for a landing on the left bank of the Dnieper. While the assault groups are training hard, the special forces are trying to expose the weak points of the Russian defense. About the situation on this section of the front – in the report from the Kherson region.
“Fishermen” from VSU
“Intelligence detected the movement of four armored personnel carriers, including two “Cossacks”, says the deputy commander of the motorized rifle battalion with the call sign “Luty”.
His group quickly made their way through the thick grass to the water. They enter one of the destroyed buildings. On the other side is the city of Berislav, where, according to the Russian military, the VSU is concentrating large forces.
“The greens are rampant, so finding equipment and positions is becoming more and more difficult. It is enough to go under the tree, put on the camouflage net and you will not be seen,” explains a fighter with the call sign “Maga”.
As the drone searches for Ukrainian armored vehicles, the fighters set up a mortar. They assure that one is enough to hit the target. True, there will not be much time – intelligence from the other side is also on alert.
On the screen, you can clearly see the river, dense vegetation, several arranged vans and a burnt “Cossack” – the result of yesterday’s mortar work.
No more than ten minutes
The drone detects nothing. In addition, the adversary’s jamming equipment intervened and the drone lost contact with the operator several times.
The fighters are just starting to put away the equipment when they announce on the radio: equipment and soldiers from the Ukrainian Armed Forces have been spotted.
The shot is in ten minutes. The first two mines are trial. The following is correct.
By the time the “answer” arrives, the mortar crew has already left the position.

And just a few kilometers away, life seems normal. Locals graze cattle. Someone comes with fishing rods. But this pastoral scene is deceptive.
“The fighters from the Ukrainian Armed Forces act very cunningly,” says a sniper-reconnaissance officer with the call sign “48”. “They disguise themselves as civilians and calmly roam the Dnieper. They know we don’t shoot at civilians. Several times I saw these “fishermen” looking through binoculars and taking notes on tablets. But we can’t stop them. An order is an order,” he added.
Ukrainian special forces are also creating problems – they are trying to gain a foothold on the left bank. The other day, the Airborne Forces repelled another attack in the Alyoshki region, which is against Kherson.
“They are studying our defense – explains the commander of the regiment with the call sign “Rumin.” “Of course, the bridgehead should be in the narrowest place and with a slight slope. Heavy equipment can be quickly transported there by pontoons,” he adds.
A suitable place is opposite Berislav. That is why Russian intelligence monitors the city around the clock.
“As soon as we notice the movement of columns or the accumulation of equipment, we immediately report to the headquarters. We recently discovered a large ammunition depot, which was soon destroyed by our aviation,” said the soldiers of the reconnaissance company. –
Not only the “birds”, but also informants help the VSU. Recently, for example, a teenager was detained for taking pictures of the checkpoint. The phone had 26 dots indicating Russian positions. For each geolocation, 500 hryvnias are paid (approximately BGN 25 – translation note).
Mostly young people are recruited. With the help of the Ukrainian analogue of “State Services” – the site “Dia”, which is full of private ads.
“Of course, someone leaks information for ideological reasons, but most of them are for the money. And when they get caught, they cry and repent,” the intelligence officers say.
Cities and villages on the left bank are shelled daily. However, the locals are in no hurry to leave.
Also, as the heat sets in, people return home from quieter areas to garden.
“The residents are getting more and more, but, alas, the shelling continues,” sighs the mayor of Nova Kakhovka, Vladimir Leontiev. “If it used to be rockets, now it’s mainly from mortars and 155-mm guns. The shrapnel flies nearly 500 meters. They throw “Drone grenades where civilians are standing,” he added, “communal services and emergency services are not without losses. Recently, two people were injured.
“And today we are burying a railway worker who died on shift. Doctors, rescuers and other specialists are constantly at risk. At the same time, the workload is unbearably high. Doctors, for example, have 50-60 patients a day,” adds the mayor.
However, no evacuation is planned yet. Local authorities hope that Russian troops will repel the attacks of the VSU.
