Of the 185 people’s representatives who voted, 184 were “for” and one abstained.
The proposal to update the budget of the NHIF and the State Budget was submitted to the National Assembly on July 16. Days earlier, at consultations with the head of state, all the political forces present agreed that an update of the budget of the Health Fund was necessary. However, the government’s proposal also included amendments in other parameters, which surprised the MPs from “Coalition for Bulgaria”. Thus, the vote on the two updates at a meeting of the Committee on Budget and Finance was defeated and postponed by one day. On July 17, GERB refused to participate in the new meeting of the commission, and with the votes of the left, only the update of the NHIF budget was accepted, but not that of the state budget.
In the update proposed by the government, BGN 225 million is provided for the Health Fund.
