Nine white roses in the vacant post of the former mayor of Thessaloniki, Yiannis Boutaris, who passed away last Saturday at the age of 82, were placed as a sign of memory by the municipal council of the municipality of Thessaloniki.
Before the start of the special meeting for the reconstruction of the TIF, the president of the municipal council, Spyros Vougias, referred to the personality of Mr. Yiannis, who for two terms, from 2010 to 2019, sat in the mayor’s chair and asked to everyone observed a minute’s silence.
Mr. Vougias emphasized that at the next regular meeting, next Monday, all councilors will have the opportunity to speak about Yiannis Boutaris, while the municipality, together with the family, will form a framework of honors for the deceased.
“I intend to call the leaders of the factions so that together we can plan such a process of honor that the city gave and will continue to give to the mayor Yannis Boutaris”, said Mr. Vougias, who after observing a minute of silence exclaimed: “worthy , we will always remember him”.
