A doctor – director of the Hippocrate Orthopedic Clinic, fell victim to a beating by an accompanying patient, around 10 am on Tuesday, inside the hospital premises.
According to information, the accompanying patient, after an observation made by the doctor, argued with him and the punched in the mouthresulting in damage to his gums.
The victim appealed to the Forensic and Toxicology Laboratory of the AUTH, where he was examined by a medical examiner and received a memorandum with the findings of the examination, in order to testify complaint.
The Hippocrate Workers Unionin a statement it issued regarding the incident, states:
“Once again, at the Orthopedic Clinic of the Hippocrates GNTH, we witnessed violence by an attendant of a patient, who was treated in the best possible way by the staff of the clinic.
In a clinic that operates exemplary and beyond its capabilities, due to the lack of staff (nurses – anesthetists), for the benefit of patients who are hospitalized and need surgical treatment – rehabilitation.
Although we understand the pain and anguish of each of our fellow human beings who face a health problem, such attitudes are unjustified and will always find us opposed”.
