A forty-two-year-old man was arrested by the sub-directorate of the Economic Police of Northern Greece for possessing and placing on the market dangerous anabolic substances and illegal pharmaceutical preparations, with the aim of using them to participate in physique competitions.
More than 3,000 tablets and 60 vials of illegal substances were seized, including a formulation that has caused deaths in the UK.
The arrested person maintains a business, which, among other things, is active in the retail and wholesale trade of nutritional supplements. He was in possession of a number of preparations, which contained tablets, but also vials of liquid, which, as was established by the police, contained illegal and dangerous active substances.
From the searches carried out in his home, business premises and vehicle, in his possession, among other things, were found and confiscated: 2,700 tablets, of various active substances, subject to the legislation on anabolic steroids and 187 tablets of a nutritional supplement, which according to the EOF is considered a dangerous preparation, as there have even been deaths from its consumption in the UK.
Also found were 120 tablets of a pharmaceutical preparation, without a relevant license, 60 vials of various active substances, which are subject to the legislation on anabolic steroids, 4 packages of injectable solution, without an EOF authenticity tape, a sum of 1,240 euros, a knife and a mobile phone.
The seized preparations will be sent to the National Medicines Agency for examination and safekeeping.
The arrested person, with the case filed against him, for violating the laws on sports, harmful drugs and weapons, was taken to the competent prosecutor’s office and referred to an investigator.
