In the United States, the special commission investigating the attack on the Capitol on January 6, 2021 held its second public hearing on Monday, June 13. The members of the commission presented testimony to demonstrate that Donald Trump knew that the presidential election was not stolen, but that he never stopped proclaiming it.

Donald Trump knew. He knew it was Joe Biden who won the November 2020 election. He knew there was no massive fraud that could change the outcome. He knew it, because everyone told him.
This is what the commission wanted to show with testimonies from exclusively Republican personalities. His daughter Ivanka, his son-in-law Jared Kushner, journalists from the conservative news channel Fox News, his campaign manager Bill Stepien and even his Minister of Justice.
Many times, William Barr explained to him that there was no evidence of cheating. He calls “bullshit”, “rubbish” and crazy stuff these assertions before describing a president who had lost touch with reality.
Donald Trump knew, and yet he preferred to say something else. To say that he had won on election night, listening to no one but his lawyer Rudy Giuliani, described as drunk by witnesses. This lie became the central element of his speech.
He pushed those who opposed him out. Above all, according to the commission, he convinced the rioters to come to Washington on January 6. And he convinced them to open their wallets. Appeals for donations launched by Donald Trump’s team have brought in nearly $250 million for his organization.
