The government wants to limit the circulation of cash, to achieve this goal a limit will be introduced on cash payments between the consumer and the entrepreneur. Transaction rules between entrepreneurs will also be tightened: the payment limit applicable here will be drastically reduced. When will the new rules come into force?
The government has been announcing changes to the cash payment limit for several months. The new rules were originally supposed to go into effect early this year, but the date has been pushed back. The law on mortgage loans signed by the President provides for their entry into force on January 1, 2024.
Since 2017, entrepreneurs have been restricted in cash payments. Transactions on the entrepreneur-entrepreneur line cannot be paid in cash for amounts exceeding PLN 15,000. zlotys. A company paying cash above this limit cannot include the expense as a tax liability. According to the new law, the limit must be reduced. However, that won’t happen before 2024.
