These will be offered vaccine now

On Tuesday, FHI’s new vaccine scenario was presented. According to FHI, there is now less uncertainty associated with vaccine deliveries over the spring, which has resulted in both the sober and optimistic progress plan believing that everyone over 18 should have been offered the first dose by mid-July.

Nakstad says the pace will increase significantly over the spring, as vaccine production increases and more doses are given.

– It is allowed to be optimistic and prepare for the fact that the vast majority of the adult population is offered a vaccine before the summer. But we must be prepared for it to be as it is, we are not the ones to control it, and not take it as a big disappointment if there is a few weeks delay, Nakstad told Dagbladet TV on Wednesday.

Long waiting lists

On Tuesday, Oslo Municipality opened for vaccine registration, and already within a few hours, more than 65,000 had used the opportunity. When you register, you can also put yourself on a list to be called, if someone does not show up for their vaccination class. You must then be able to be available within 30 minutes, according to the municipality.

– If you register, it may be that you can be offered a vaccine at short notice, but that is if someone in your age group does not show up, says Nakstad.

It is currently the elderly and risk groups who are vaccinated in Norway. Throughout the spring, however, increasingly younger groups will be offered the vaccine, but you have to be patient.

If someone aged 73 does not show up for vaccination, then a person in their 30s will not be able to be offered the vaccine, Nakstad emphasizes.

– The vast majority will probably get vaccinated when they are vaccinated in the same age group. Priority will be given to those who are the same age and who have registered, says Nakstad.

No sneaking

Also communications adviser Kjartan Sverdrup in the health service in Oslo, is aware that registering as available does not mean that you can sneak into the queue.

– We call next on the list in the same group, he says to TV 2.

On Tuesday, a total of 621,256 Norwegians received the first dose of the corona vaccine. 271,536 Norwegians have received both doses and are thus fully vaccinated.

This is FHI’s scenario

These are the times when everyone in different groups according to FHI’s sober scenario should have been offered the first vaccine dose (scenario from 12 March in parentheses):

  • Health personnel: 3rd week in May (3rd week in April)
  • 75–84 years: 3rd week in March (3rd week in March)
  • 65-74 years + 18-64 years with high risk: 3rd week in April (mid-April)
  • 55–64 years, underlying disease: 3rd week in April (mid-April)
  • 45–54 years, underlying disease: 3rd week in April (3rd week in April)
  • 18–44 years, underlying disease: month change April / May (month change April / May)
  • 55–64 years: mid-May (mid-May)
  • 45–54 years: 2nd week in June (2nd week in June)
  • 18–44 years: 2nd week in July (1st week in July)
  • The vast majority of nursing home residents and people over the age of 85 have already been fully vaccinated or have received the first vaccine dose.
