According to figures published by INEGI and AMDA, a total of 116,543 units during the month of last September in our country, which refers to a decrease in -1.4% compared to the previous month. However, the trend continues to be positive so far this year, 10.5% more than the same period of the previous year.
In total, they have been delivered 1,079,413 new light cars since January of this year and the following five brands dominate the market:
5.- KIA
The South Korean firm represents a 7.1% of the bulk of national sales and has managed to sell a total of 8,002 cars during September, a figure that represents an increase in 3% compared to the same month, but from last year. So far this year, KIA has sold 76,577 cars, that is, a 9.5% more than in 2023.
4.- Toyota
The Japanese brand remains in the Top 5 despite the known shortage of units and long waiting lists for some of its models. It has a market share of 8.4% and during September, it sold a total of 10,193 units, that is, a 16.5% more than in the same month last year. In the same way, from January to September 2024 it delivered 90,256 units, a 22.3% more than the previous year. Positive numbers.
3.- Volkswagen Group
We reach the Top 3 of this list and with it, the Volkswagen group, which includes brands such as: Audi, Bentley, Porsche, SEAT/Cupra and of course, VW. The German brand has a stake in 11.8% in the national market and during September 2024, they sold a total of 14,677, 12.9% more than the same month of the previous year. In total, so far this year, they delivered 127,188, 19.7% more than the same previous period.
2.- General Motors
The second place in sales in Mexico is occupied by General Motors, with brands such as: Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac. Its total participation is 14% and has delivered 16,197 light vehicles during September of the current one, which refers to a small increase in the 0.4%. Of course, so far this year it has sold 151,191 units, that is, 0.7% more than in 2023.
1.- Nissan
As usual, Nissan is at the top of this list, with a total share of the 17.0% y 18,727 units delivered last month, but got a -7.0% sales compared to the same period of the previous year. In total, so far this year it has 182,988 deliveries nationwide, generating an increase in 4.4% compared to 2023.
