Collecting stamps used to be a very popular hobby. In the 1860s and 1870s, stamp collecting was primarily done by children and teenagers. Over the next few years, more and more adults began collecting stamps. It is estimated that in the times of the Polish People’s Republic several hundred thousand people were engaged in it professionally. Most often stamp albums are used to archive stamp collections.

Stamp collectors gladly exchanged their designs for foreign stamps. Currently, many people who lived in the times of the People’s Republic of Poland keep valuable postage stamps in the attic. However, few people know how much they might be worth. Prices are surprisingly high, collectors are willing to pay big money for some stamps.

On the popular sales site OLX, the prices of the stamps go as high as 159,000. PLN for a 2017 stamp. Why this price? According to the advertiser, the stamp has a different number of teeth (66 teeth), while it should have 72 teeth.

You have to pay for other stamps, e.g. 36 thousand zlotys for “family collection of stamps Poland 1860 – 1952″. They are also slightly cheaper, at 4,000 PLN for a stamp album from the years PRL 71-84. You have to pay 500 PLN for Polish stamps from the PRL – album album from the 60s and 70s.

The high price of a stamp is mainly due to its uniqueness. These include the stamps were issued in small editions. Stamps that have survived despite a small print run often cost thousands or even millions of dollars. These are, of course, very unique finds. For a stamp to be of value, it must also interest experienced collectors in the sector.
