It is bigger than ever, the new Bundestag – and on this Tuesday all politicians who were elected to the Bundestag in 2021 will come together for the constituent session. Viewed across Germany, the 2021 federal election brought some surprises with it. With regard to Lower Franconia, however, there have been few changes in the politicians who will represent the district in Berlin in the coming years. A total of 13 Lower Franconians sit in the new Bundestag, one more candidate than in the previous legislative period.
CSU candidates win all direct mandates again
Lower Franconia is divided into five constituencies – the constituencies of Aschaffenburg, Bad Kissingen, Main-Spessart, Schweinfurt and Würzburg. This means that there are five direct candidates. In spite of the considerable loss of votes in some cases, all of the CSU candidates won direct seats in this general election.
In the constituency of Aschaffenburg Andrea Lindholz enforced, in the constituency of Bad Kissingen Dorothee Bear, in the Main-Spessart constituency Alexander Hoffmann, in the constituency of Schweinfurt Anja Weisgerber and in the constituency of Würzburg Paul Lehrieder. All five were already in the Bundestag before the 2021 election, so they have defended their places.
