These new flight connections will be available from German airports in 2022

In the travel year 2022 there is a lot that travelers can look forward to. In addition to easing or completely lifting corona measures at the holiday destination, after two years of the corona pandemic, the airlines are now starting many new flight connections at German airports. In this brief overview, we show you at which airport you can find additional routes for your holiday.

BER Airport, Berlin

Holidaymakers have recently been able to travel daily directly from Berlin to New York from Berlin Airport BER – it is the first long-haul connection from Berlin Airport to the USA. United Airlines has launched a non-stop service to Newark Airport. The airline works together with Lufthansa, which means that the flights can also be booked via the German airline.

The Norwegian low-cost airline Flyr also offers a new connection. It flies from BER to Oslo every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday at different times each week. In addition, flights with Turkish Airlines to Ordu, with Norwegian Air Shuttle to Trondheim and with Green Airlines to Weeze are new.

Hamburg Airport, Hamburg

The Lufthansa subsidiary Eurowings starts in the summer season from Hamburg to seven new destinations in Europe. Are planned:

  • four weekly flights to Gothenburg in Sweden
  • three connections after Porto in Portugal
  • two starts towards Bilbao such as Lisbon and Alicante
  • a flight to Chania on Kreta

In addition, the flight frequency should Palma de Mallorca be increased by one daily connection. The announced connections are scheduled to start between April 4th and May 7th.

The new national airline flies daily from Italy, ITA Airways, now from Mailand-Linate to Hamburg and back again. The almost two-hour flight leaves Italy at 12.20 p.m. in the direction of Hamburg. The flight leaves Hamburg at 2:50 p.m. Turkish Airlines will fly to Ordu from the end of June.

Bremen Airport, Bremen

In April, the Irish low-cost airline Ryanair flies from Bremen to Vienna and back on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. From May there will be a flight every Thursday, making a city trip or business trip easier again, according to Ryanair.

A sightseeing trip to Vienna?  A flight connection from Bremen, among other places, makes it possible.

Hanover Airport, Lower Saxony

At Hanover Airport, the new flight connections have so far been quite manageable. One thing is clear: With the Spanish low-cost airline Volotea, travelers can travel once a week to Cagliari on the Italian island of Sardinia and with the Serbian airline Air Serbia from June 3rd three times a week to Belgrade.

Frankfurt Airport, Hesse

There is a lot going on at the largest German airport. Lufthansa and its subsidiary Eurowings alone offer numerous new shipments. Eurowings Discover is expanding its offer to Namibia: From July 2nd to September 11th, the capital Windhoek will be served ten times a week from Frankfurt. Since March 27, the frequency has been increased from five to seven flights per week.

In addition, these nine destinations are served:

  • Anchorage
  • Fort Myers
  • Las Vegas
  • Salt Lake City
  • Calgary
  • Halifax
  • Kilimanjaro
  • Panama City
  • Victoria Falls

Lufthansa is also offering other new routes: St. Louis, Liverpool, Rennes and Stavanger. Condor is also increasing. The airline offers the US destinations Boston, Los Angeles, New York and San Francisco as well as the European destinations Kefalonia, Nice and Tbilisi. In addition, Air Canada will resume the seasonal route to Vancouver at the beginning of May.

Cologne/Bonn Airport, North Rhine-Westphalia

Starting April 15, Easyjet will be offering a new daily direct connection from Cologne/Bonn Airport to London Gatwick Airport in the direction of London. Since April 1, the British airline has been flying two connections per week to Porto in Portugal. Easyjet has also been flying from Cologne/Bonn to Berlin, Porto and Mallorca since winter.

After a four-year break, Condor is flying again from Cologne/Bonn Airport for the first time. From May 14, the airline will be taking off daily in the direction of Palma on Mallorca. On Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays from May 15th we will go to Heraklion on Crete. Other new destinations for summer 2022 will be served by Ryanair. It goes to Stockholm, Biarritz and Knock. Eurowings has been flying to Prague and Edinburgh since March and to Monastir from the end of June.

The airlines Air Serbia and Smartlynx Airlines are brand new. Air Serbia will fly travelers to Niš in Serbia every Thursday and Saturday, and Smartlynx will fly to Hurghada in Egypt from April 13th.

Munich Airport, Bavaria

From Munich Airport, Eurowings Discover flies to 21 destinations in the Mediterranean region as well as the new long-haul destinations of Las Vegas, Punta Cana and Cancún. The long-distance routes San Diego, Rio de Janeiro and Bangkok and in Europe Billund are new to the Lufthansa program.

In the direction of the USA, United Airlines is connecting Denver with Munich for the first time, Delta Air Lines wants to fly to Detroit in the future and American Airlines is again offering flights to Charlotte.

Nuremberg Airport, Bavaria

Nuremberg Airport has a new direct connection. With British Airways, travelers now fly non-stop four times a week to London Heathrow Airport. From May 1st, the route will then be flown six times a week. Michael Hupe, Managing Director of Nuremberg Airport, announces that new connections to America or other continents will be added from autumn.

Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden Airport, Baden-Wuerttemberg

Ryanair now flies from Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden Airport (FKB) to Palermo in Italy every Tuesday and Saturday. In addition, Girona in Spain is served seven times a week in summer instead of just four times a week. There are additional flights to Zadar in Croatia on the Dalmatian coast. There is now a plane flying there three times a week from FKB on Saturdays, Tuesdays and Mondays.
