The best cinema films 2021
–
All starting dates of the 2021 films in this preview are therefore initially without guarantee …
Nomadland (31. March 2021)
The big favorite for the 2021 Academy Awards, which has been postponed to April 25th. The two-time gold boy winner Frances McDormand plays a woman who lost everything in the financial crisis and now travels the United States as a modern nomad.
James Bond: No Time To Die (March 31, 2021)
Daniel Craig’s fifth and last outing as 007 was not a good star from the start. Actually planned for November 2019, the film had to be postponed several times even without Corona, as the originally planned director Danny Boyle (“Trainspotting”) was fired. Cary Fukunaga (“True Detective”) took over, but then Corona came, the start date moved from April to November 2020. Now Craig’s final gig is set to take place on March 31, 2021.
A Quiet Place 2 (22. April 2021)
The horror thriller about a family’s fight against noise-sensitive killer aliens was a surprise success in 2018. The Abbotts must leave the relative safety of their home in Part 2 and roam a devastated country.
Black Widow (6. Mai 2021)
After DC Comics’ competitor presented “Wonder Woman”, a strong woman is now getting a solo film in the Marvel universe. As in the “Avenger” films, Scarlett Johansson plays former KGB agent Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow.

Ghostbuster – Legacy (10. Juni 2021)
After many fans of the original (also for misogynistic reasons) rejected the all-female remake from 2016, the original ghost hunters Bill Murray, Dan Akroyd and Co. are now coming back. And hand over the torch to a new generation (including “Stranger Things” star Finn Wolfhard).
Minions – In Search of the Mini-Boss (July 1, 2021)
The secret stars of the “Despicable Me” series get their second solo film. The original subtitle “The Rise of Gru” promises that we will see the young boss of the yellow assistants.
Top Gun – Maverick (1. Juli 2021)
The eternal 80s revival will not stop in 2021 either. In addition to the Ghostbusters, another cult film of the cult decade is getting a late sequel that also introduces a new generation. Tom Cruise plays the pilot Maverick again, 34 years after the “gay fantasy film” (Quentin Tarantino), who this time acts as the mentor of the young Rooster (Miles Teller).
Dune (30. September 2021)
David Lynch failed in 1984 with his film adaptation of Frank Herbert’s ultra-complex science fiction saga. Denis Villeneuve, who already gave “Blade Runner” a worthy sequel, is supposed to do better now and get more time for it, a total of two parts are planned. The young mime of the hour, Timothée Chalamet, leads an all-star cast.

Gucci (25.November 2021)
Lady Gaga already proved that she can wear a film in “A Star is Born”. Now she has to compete alongside the acting giants Robert De Niro and Al Pacino. She plays Patrizia Reggiani, who murdered her unfaithful husband, label boss Maurizio Gucci, and spent 18 years in prison.
West Side Story (December 9, 2021)
Most superfluous remake in film history or an overdue update? In any case, Steven Spielberg remakes Leonard Bernstein’s musical. The 1961 adaptation won 10 Academy Awards.
Matrix 4 (December 23, 2021)
It’s been 22 years since Keanu Reeves woke up in the Matrix. And 19 years since Part 3. In the late fourth film, in addition to the original stars Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss, the German Max Riemelt is also there.
