Around 17 years after the last episode, the cult series “Sex and the City” returns. In the reboot “And Just Like That”, Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker), Charlotte York (Kristin Davis) and Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon) are all about love and sex in New York City.
If you feel like walking in the footsteps of the original series, the films and the reboot, we’ll tell you the locations. Find out, for example, where Carrie Bradshaw lives, where the famous Magnolia Bakery is or where Charlotte works.
Carrie Bradshaws Apartment in New York
The apartment of sex columnist Carrie Bradshaw plays a big role in the series “Sex and the City” – after all, it is Carrie’s closet. But it is also the center of her life for writing, loving and living. In the series, the apartment is on the Upper East Side, but 245 East 73rd Street doesn’t exist there.
The actual location can be found in Greenwich Village. At 66 Perry Street, the steps lead to Carrie’s apartment. The sign next to the front door is not house number 66, but shows the year of construction of the house in 1866.
There are also no addresses of Carrie’s best friends. According to “filmtourismus.de” in New York, you won’t find Samantha’s apartment at 300 Gansevoort Street, Charlotte’s apartment at 700 Park Avenue and Miranda’s apartment at 331 West 78th Street in New York.
Hier finden „Sex in the City“-Fans die Magnolia Bakery
On the other hand, the Magnolia Bakery and its cupcakes are completely real. The way Carrie and Miranda gossip and nibble something – you can do that on Bleecker Street. The pastry shop is just steps from the filming location for Carrie’s Greenwich Village apartment, and it still looks the same today.
But since the Magnolia Bakery is also known from other series and films, there can be long queues. When there is a high rush of film and series fans, an employee occasionally even regulates the admission.
Drink Cosmopolitan in Aidan’s and Steve’s Bar Scouts
The bar of Miranda’s husband Steve and Carrie’s ex-boyfriend Aidan actually exists – at least the location for it. Because the bar known as Scouts in the series is actually called Onieals Grand Street and is not on Mulberry Road, but on 174 Grand Street. There you can, for example, drink a Cosmopolitan after the sweet tart from Magnolia Bakery. You can walk from the pastry shop to Onieals in about half an hour.
Manolo Blahnik: Der Shop aus „Sex and the City“
Manolo Blahnik is Carrie Bradshaw’s favorite shoe brand. Whether in the series “Sex and the City”, the films or in the reboot “And Just Like That” – Carrie cannot do without Manolo Blahnik’s shoes. If you want to follow in the footsteps of Carrie Bradshaw or in similar shoes, you will find the filming location from the series at 31 West 54th Street.
The Manolo Blahnik shop of yore is no longer there. Instead you will find the shoe store SJP by Sarah Jessica Parker on the premises. The actress has only recently started selling her shoe collection there. If you still want to get a taste of Manolo Blahnik, you will find a store at 717 Madison Avenue, New York 10065.

Charlotte’s workplace
Before Charlotte got married for the first time, she worked as a gallery owner. You can visit the location of the gallery. The Louis K. Meisel Gallery is located at 141 Prince Street in Soho. The art gallery is one of the great commercial promoters of the photorealism and hyperrealism styles.
„Sex and the City“-Szenen im Central Park
Long walks and numerous love scenes – Central Park is the setting for many “Sex and the City” scenes. For example, Carrie takes a horse-drawn carriage twice through the huge park in the middle of New York. She is on the road with Mr. Big once when Miranda is having her baby. And towards the end of the series, she drives through the park with her Russian lover Aleksandr Petrovsky. If you want to experience that too, the carriages at the entrance to Central Park are waiting for you.
Dramatic scenes, on the other hand, took place at the Columbus Circle Fountain. At the well, Carrie tells Aidan that she will not marry him. You can find the location at Central Park South: Columbus Circle, New York 10019.

“Sex and the City” scenes outside of the US
Some scenes in the series and in the “Sex and the City” films were shot overseas. At the end of the original series, Carrie lives in Paris for a few days before she and Mr. Big find each other again there. There she followed the artist Aleksandr Petrovsky, who spent most of his life there.
Places you see on the series include Hotel Plaza Athénée and Kong, a glass-domed restaurant where Carrie had lunch with Aleksandr’s ex-wife.
“Sex and the City”: locations from the film
After the series ended in 2004, the first feature film “Sex and the City” was released in 2008. The entire film revolves around the wedding of Carrie and Mr. Big. The fancy wedding was to take place in the New York Public Library. The night before the wedding anniversary is celebrated at the Buddakan Restaurant, located at 75 Ninth Avenue.
Another well-known scene from the first film is the reconciliation of Miranda and Steve on the Brooklyn Bridge, which connects the districts of Manhattan and Brooklyn. After both have decided for each other, they hug each other on the pedestrian walkway of the bridge.
Other locations for the film include Bryant Park, the Four Seasons Hotel and Lennox Hill Hospital in New York City.
“Sex and the City 2”: Instead of shooting in Abu Dhabi, the film was shot in Marrakech
The second “Sex and the City” film started in German cinemas in 2010. The four friends Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda spend a vacation together in Abu Dhabi. However, it was shot in Morocco. Among other things, it was filmed in the Amanjena Hotel and also in the luxury hotel La Mamounia in Marrakech.
Filming locations of “And Just Like That”
Many of the locations that were shot are not yet known – after all, the series “And Just Like That” is still brand new. In Germany, the first two episodes were broadcast on Sky on December 9th. Eight more should follow on Thursdays.
In the first episode, Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte exchange ideas in a fancy restaurant as usual. While the clee doesn’t exist in reality, you can still visit the location. It was filmed in the Whitney Cafe, which is on the ground floor of the Whitney Museum of American Art at 99 Gansevoort Street.
Carrie recorded her podcast “X, Y and Me” with co-presenters Che Diaz (Sara Ramírez) and Jackie Nee (Bobby Lee) on 1251 Avenue of the Americas. The building of the same name is 229 meters high and has 54 floors. Inside, the skyscraper offers around 213,000 square meters of usable space, which is almost exclusively occupied by offices.
The bar where Miranda wants to order a drink before her first day at university is called Smith’s Bar. The address: 701 8th Avenue. You can actually enjoy a drink there.
The halls of Columbia University that Miranda strolls through in the series, on the other hand, is not so easy to walk. The reason: The scenes were not filmed on the campus of the prestigious university, but in the house of the New York Bar Association. The historic neoclassical building is located in Midtown at 42 West 44th Street.
“And Just Like That”: filming locations from the end of episodes one and two
The climax of the first episode jumps between two locations: Carrie and Mr. Big’s apartment and the Manhattan School of Music, where Charlotte’s daughter Lily makes an appearance on the stage at the piano. However, it was actually shot in the Lyceum Theater at 149 West 45th Street near Times Square, reports the online portal “dirt.com”.
And last but not least: Warning, spoilers! At the end of the first episode, John James Preston, aka Mr. Big, dies. In the second episode of “And Just Like That” Carrie has to organize the funeral for the love of her life. This takes place in the white and minimalist rooms of the Greene Naftali Gallery at 508 West 26th Street in Chelsea. Before that, she refuses the premises of a funeral home. It was shot in The Astor House at 130 East 80th Street on the Upper East Side.
Where paparazzi and fans have also seen the “Sex and the City” stars
During the filming of “And Just Like That” fans and paparazzi spotted the actors in other locations in New York. Fans will likely enjoy scenes at Webster Hall at 125 East 11th Street and at the Dante Restaurant, which is near Carrie’s fictional apartment at 66 Perry Street.
