On a packed Champions League evening, several Dutch people took action. Feyenoord won well against Benfica, but there was also plenty of success for our compatriots at the other clubs. We have listed it for you.

We have no choice but to start with the match between RB Leipzig and Liverpool. In Germany, 5 of the 22 starting players were Dutch internationals. Lutsharel Geertruida and Xavi Simons started for Leipzig, Cody Gakpo, Ryan Gravenberch and Virgil van Dijk were given a starting place by Arne Slot.
Gakpo was important in the only goal of the evening. A cross from the winger was headed towards goal by Mohamed Salah and then Darwin Núñez tapped in. In the final phase there was a setback for Dutch national coach Ronald Koeman, as Simons ended up wrong and had to abandon the fight injured.

Nathan Aké made his return to Manchester City against Sparta Prague after being injured in the home match against Germany for the Dutch team. The Dutchman played 74 minutes and was close to scoring. However, his goal was disallowed due to handball. City won easily 5-0.

Stefan de Vrij has regained his starting position at Internazionale and the defender also started from the kick-off at BSC Young Boys. De Vrij was assisted in defense by his compatriot Denzel Dumfries. Both Dutchmen saw substitute Marcus Thuram fire their team to victory in injury time.
Pepijn Lijnders does not yet have his team completely on track. Although RB Salzburg narrowly won last weekend in the competition against SCR Altach, they lost for the third time in the Champions League. After Sparta Prague and Stade Brest, Dinamo Zagreb was also too strong.

Captain Marten de Roon played ninety minutes with Atalanta against Celtic. Neither team scored in Bergamo, so Atalanta is seventeenth in the Champions League after three games, one place below Feyenoord.
Two Dutch people at the match between Stade Brest and Bayer Leverkusen. Marco Bizot started under the bar for the French, Jeremie Frimpong was rested and only came on for Leverkusen in the second half. The Dutch had to settle for a draw.
