During their talks on Sunday morning, the federal and state governments agreed on the following corona measures, which should apply from Wednesday, December 16 to Sunday, January 10:

The retail trade has to close with the exception of shops for daily needs.

In contrast, hairdressing salons, cosmetic studios, massage practices, tattoo studios and similar businesses will be closed. Medically necessary treatments, for example physiotherapy, occupational therapy and logotherapy as well as podiatry / foot care, are still possible. Hardware stores, however, have to close.
Workplace
Companies in the Saarland that can switch to home office are asked to do so.
Schools and daycare centers
Daycare centers and schools should also close or only operate to a limited extent. Schoolchildren and daycare children should stay at home for three and a half weeks at the latest from Wednesday. Emergency care is to be set up in Saarland for schoolchildren up to grade six and daycare children whose parents are working. Separate regulations may apply to graduating classes.
Christmas
For Christmas, the strict rules for private contacts – a maximum of five people from a maximum of two households – are to be relaxed. From December 24th to 26th, the following are permitted: Meetings with four people who go beyond their own household plus children up to the age of 14 from the closest family circle, i.e. spouses, civil partners and partners in a cohabiting relationship as well as direct relatives, siblings, Siblings and their respective household members, even if this means more than two households or five people over 14 years of age.
New Year’s Eve
In view of the spreading corona pandemic, a nationwide ban on attendance and gatherings will apply in Germany on New Year’s Eve and New Year. In addition, the sale of fireworks before New Year’s Eve is generally prohibited.
Gastronomy
Restaurants, cafes and pubs will remain closed. The delivery and collection of take-away meals for consumption at home by restaurants and the operation of canteens remain possible. However, consumption on site is prohibited.
Prohibition of alcohol in public
The consumption of alcoholic beverages in public places is to be prohibited from December 16 to January 10 and violations will be fined.
to travel
There is an appeal to refrain from all non-essential trips by January 10th, but these are not prohibited. Quarantine obligations when returning from foreign risk areas are reaffirmed.
Religious gatherings
Religious get-togethers such as church services are still possible if the existing Corona rules are observed.
