Presenter Dennis Weening, singer Ellen ten Damme and comedian Najib Amhali, among others, are taking a shot at the title of The smartest person. Two politicians also take the seat: Caroline van der Plas of the BoerBurgerBeweging and Laurens Dassen of VOLT.

The candidates who will kick off the season are Bert Visscher, Daphne Deckers and Sergio Vyent, who we all know from First Dates. Later in the season Barbara Barend and Marc-Marie Huijbregts will also participate.
It is now the eighteenth season of the knowledge quiz, which invariably is watched by an audience of millions. Rob Kemps is the most recent winner. He trumped Andries Tunru and Emma Wortelboer in the final. In the video below you can see the blood-curdling denouement.
